Sigma Featured Swimmer Of The Week

Eti Loiz is a 14- year old swimmer that swims at Sigma Swim's Fort Worth North TCCNW location under Coach Jill. He attends the Fort Worth Academy in Fort Worth.

Swimming helps me stay fit and works out everything, but is also a hobby of mine, sometimes getting sad when I don’t swim for a long time. It also motivates me in everyday life.

Q: How did you become involved in Swimming?

A: I was searching for a new sport, and was fond of water, so I tried out swimming at Texas Wesleyan.


Q: Is swimming an important part of your life and why?

A: I say yes as it is helps me stay fit and works out everything, but is also a hobby of mine, sometimes getting sad when I don’t swim for a long time. It also motivates me in everyday life.


Q: What role does your family play in your swimming?

A: My dad is my main supporter, he goes to any extent to help me out.


Q: Do you have any favorite swimmers and why?

A: While I have met 5 Olympians and look up to Michael Phelps, I personally don’t prefer favorite swimmers, as they all inspire.


Q: What is your favorite stroke and why?

A: I like IMs since they are the most diverse, the funnest (in my opinion), and have all the strokes. But if I have to choose a stroke that’s not IM, butterfly as it requires the most skill in my opinion.


Q: What do you do when you are standing behind the start block to focus on your race?

A: I try to block out the world and visualize how I am going to swim.


Q: What do you do or say to yourself after a race that you know you could have raced better?

A: I don’t actually say much. I just ask others how I can improve and see where I messed up.


Q: What do you eat before and during a swim meet?

A: I usually eat berries and homemade jerky along with propel.


Q: Who motivates you the most to do your best?

A: I feel like something inside of me motivates me to do the best.


Q: What are your goals in the sport of swimming?

A: I want to regain my speed, make new friends, improve my techniques, have a good time, and get better overall. I want to be fit, manage time, and just have fun!
