Cameron Andrews is a 13-year old swimmer that swims at Sigma Swim’s Fort Worth North (TCCNW) location under Coach Jill.

Q: How and why did you decide to become a swimmer?
A: I played basketball up until 6th grade and tried Cross Country. I was looking for a new sport and thought I would give swimming a try since I’ve always loved being in the pool.
Q: Do you have any favorite athletes that inspire you the most and why?
A: Any Olympic swimmer inspires me. I see how much hard work goes into training for my meets and I can’t imagine the discipline needed to get to that level.
Q: Do you have any family members involved in the sport of swimming?
A: No, but everyone is supportive and encouraging!
Q: What would you say is your favorite and least favorite events at swim meets and why?
A: 200 IM and any breaststroke event are my favorite. Any backstroke event is my least favorite.
Q: How do you prepare for a swim meet and what do you eat before and during a meet?
A: I go to practice regularly and listen to Coach Jill’s advice. The night before a meet I usually eat pasta and pack a bag of snacks (crackers, almonds, and some chocolate)

Q: How do you stay motivated especially after a disappointing race?
A: I think about what I can do better to improve the time. That race is over, and I can’t change the outcome. Listen to Coach Jill and do my best to make the changes.
Q: Are there any other sports you participate in and why?
A: No other sports.
Q: Who encourages you the most to perform your best?
A: My parents and Coach Jill
Q: What do you like to do when you are not swimming?
A: I love to bake and decorate cakes and cookies and spend time with friends
Q: Have you thought about what your goals are for the future in swimming?
A: I would like to swim in high school next year and if I am lucky enough swim in college.
