Sometimes I have to give up after school activities, but it is worth it. It has impacted me in a positive way too because I meet lots of new people through my class.

Q: How and why did you decide to become a swimmer?

A: I started swimming at Sigma when I was 7 because I loved to swim in the summertime and wanted to continue during the colder months and learn more.

Q: What does the sport of swimming mean to you and what would you say if you were told that you can’t swim anymore?

A: Swimming allows me to destress and after I am done with it I feel refreshed. If I couldn’t swim anymore, I would be devastated and it’s not a thing that you can just take away.

Q: Are there any athletes that inspire you the most and why?

A: Simone Manuel. I have a poster of her on my wall. She inspires me to become better and try my best even when I don’t want to because she overcame so many obstacles to win Olympic medals.

I’m involved in theater, choir, volleyball, basketball and track at my school.
